Special Executive Committee Meeting

 

March 29, 2008 – 1:30 p.m. before County Convention, Owen Auditorium, SCC

 

ATTENDANCE   (Quorum is 25% of 37 voting members = 9 {9.25})

   25 Voting Members – 3 Officers, 3 MAL, 2 Club Pres, 17 Precinct Chairs

     1 Non-Voting Member – 1 Special Committee Member

     2 Other Attendees – did not sign (Ed Kennedy, Dick Mead)      (Sign-in sheets attached)

 

Meeting called to order at 1:35 p.m. by Chair John Owen. Prayer by Ged Taylor; Pledge by Lois Mitchell.

 

RULES – Motion made by Jack Olson, seconded by Paul Brodict. Motion withdrawn and Rules not adopted as no other business could be held except on the agenda.

 

CHAIRMAN’S COMMENTS – There is no more activity on our previous website. Appointed and introduced our Young Teenage Republican Nord Hodges. He is 15 years old, holding a 3.9 grade average and a 1760 pretest.

 

SECRETARY’S REPORT – Quorum is 9.25 (1/4 of 37) Agreed to dispense reading the 2/12/08 minutes. Motion/second to approve. (Minutes attached)

 

NOMINATIONS for VICE CHAIRMAN (Lane Toomey resigned to run for NC House of Representatives)

 - Nominating Committee – Chairman Charlie Holbrook made a motion that this committee nominates Bob Levy as their candidate; seconded.

 - Nominations from Floor – Dick Mead nominated Ed Kennedy; seconded by Evelyn Hill.   

 Motion made by Vern Pike to close the nominations; seconded by Ged Taylor.

 

ELECTION OF VICE CHAIRMAN – Both candidates gave a brief presentation of their qualifications. A secret paper ballot vote was taken and tallied by Vern Pike, Bill Thurman, Joe Garrison, Don VanRoosen and witnessed by Jim McGillan. Results: Bob Levy 16 and Ed Kennedy 9 (25 ballots attached).  Chairman Owen announced that Bob Levy was elected as Vice Chairman.

  

HEADQUARTERS BUILDING – Are looking at space in a building to rent. Specifics announced later.

 

UPCOMING CONVENTIONS – Attend District (4/17 Asheboro) and State Conventions (6/6-8 Greensboro). Consider attending the National Republican Convention (9/1-5 Minneapolis, MN).
