NORTH CAROLINA STATE REPUBLICAN CONVENTION June 12 - 14, 2009
News: Tom Fetzer was elected Chair of the NC Republican Party. Congratulations, Tom. We look forward to working with you! Vice Chair is Doctor Timothy F. Johnson. Our best wishes to you as well, Dr. Johnson. LINK HERE for photos from the Convention. 51 delegates represented Moore County. Let's double that next time, friends. North Carolina needs our active participation in the Republcan Party. ======
Fellow 6th District Members,
It my honor and pleasure to
congratulate Mr. Tom Fetzer on his election as the new NCGOP
Chairman. I know Tom will do a great job in helping the
NCGOP not only grow, but prosper. I know it was a contested
race for chairman, but now is the time to come together as
Republicans and help Chairman Fetzer achieve the positive
vision he has for our party. Partisan interparty politics
need to be put aside. We are Republicans and will unite to
face the future with a new renewed optimism as always we
should.
I know the 6th District
Executive Board members like myself will work hard to
support Tom, because his success is our success.
Thanks,
David

Article from The Pilot, Sunday,
May 24, 2009 Then I expressed condolences to Nell Judge on the passing of Seven Lakes precinct leader Bill Judge. As chair of the Moore County Republican Party, my thoughts concerned the loss to our party of citizens who had dedicated much of their lives to the GOP conservative cause of lower taxes and smaller, less intrusive government. Yet, when I learned more about each of these "good and faithful servants," I realized that my understanding of the reason for their importance was in error. Barbara Blake was an educator who pioneered speech therapy in the Moore County schools. Bill Judge slept overnight on a single cot in a church to help two homeless mothers and their children on the Saturday night before his fatal heart attack. The more I serve the Moore County Republican Party, the more I learn that shaping governmental policy is important; but, if that is all we place on our final resume, our Maker will likely find our qualifications lacking. As for these wonderful people, I know that each will surely qualify for God's gift of eternity. Robert M. Levy Chair MCRP Southern Pines |
The Moore County RED, WHITE AND BLUE REPUBLICAN GALA was held on Saturday, April 26th. It was a well-attended dinner, highlighted by appearances by U.S. Representatives John Boehner (Republican Leader of the House of Representatives) and Howard Coble. Much appreciation goes to Joan Thurman, Gala Chair, and her able committee for putting the Carolina Hotel event together.

Moore County Republican Chair Bob Levy |
The Sixth District Convention was held on Thursday, April 23rd in Asheboro. Moore County had 44 delegates present. District Officers elected included David Rudin, Chair; Joan Thurman, Vice Chair; Ann Shaw, Secretary and Phyllis Gibbs, Treasurer. All were elected by acclamation. Gina Brown, Linda Parke and Bev Shebs were elected Delegates At Large.
Dr. Ada Fisher, Nations Committeewoman for the Republican National Committee, told us the focus of activities for Republicans needs to be on Solutions, Not Change. She called on Republicans to get it from the bottom up. As a medical doctor, Dr. Fisher said "All Republican babies are born with their eyes open!" How about that! We all need to remember that we are the party of Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan. Right On!
New Chairman of the Moore County Republican Party: Bob Levy.

Congratulations and all best wishes to all who have been elected at the Moore County Convention.
Other officers include:
Vice Chair Bill Thurman, Gen. USAF Ret.

Watch for it! At-Large Members include Linda Hardison, Lois Mitchell, George Schofield, Paul Shaffer, and Herman Thompson.

Sincere Thanks to John Owen and Do Shaver, Outgoing Chairman and Secretary,
